"On this episode we discuss Vantage Point, starring an all-star cast of people who didn't read the script."

Official Show Notes[]

"We're joined by comedian and BestWeekEver.tv blogger Sara Schaefer to discuss Vantage Point, the movie that proves that any flimsy concept can be stretched to 85 minutes with the strategic deployment of flashbacks. Meanwhile, Sara reveals her tragic film-memory affliction, Stuart poses a provocative animal question, and Dan reveals a surprising amount of Funky Winkerbean knowledge."

Movie Summary[]

Premise[]

The attempted assassination of the American President is told and retold from several different perspectives.

Story[]

Witnesses with different points of view try to unravel an assassination attempt on the U.S. president. Special Agents Thomas Barnes and Kent Taylor are assigned to protect President Ashton during a summit in Spain on the war on terror. Moments after the leader's arrival, shots ring out, and Ashton is down. In the resulting chaos, an American tourist comes forward with his camcorder, which he believes contains an image of the shooter.

Stuart thinks Jennifer Garner looks like a skeleton "in a scary way."

Final Judgments[]

Episode Highlights[]

Elliott is away at the national party conventions, not a Star Trek convention.
Dan McCoy is fast, is what the ladies on the street say.
Sara: College sketch comedy group...
Dan: College satire.
Sara: We wrote about the cafeteria.
Stuart: Dan did a comic strip like that.
Dan: Shut up.
@04:20
Sara is roughly twice as tall as Elliott, but doesn't have his encyclopedic movie knowledge. Her husband has convinced her that she has seen the movie Hellboy, but she can't remember anything whatsoever about it. Sara's mother is the same way. Stuart's mother has the same problem except it's normally because she's drunk.
Elliott is the Johnny 5 of a group of robots that were made for learning about movies. He's short and talks like a robot. He has no Ally Sheedy in his life yet to teach him there's something more to life than movies. Dan might fulfill this role, Stuart would be Fisher Stevens.
